This monumental heritage dates from the 13th century and is located between the Savoie County and Geneva County. The team of the Viuz-Faverges archaeological museum invites you to enjoy the panoramic view from the top of the tower.The imposing Keep was a 360° control station towering over the surrounding valleys. Purchased by the town of Faverges in 1980, part of its buildings was used as an accomodation centre. The Keep - registered on the Historical Monuments' additional list in 1991 - was restored and provided with a circular hoard inaugurated in 2008.

Travel back in time from Prehistory to the Middle Ages with objects found during excavations in Faverges and its surroundings. Then you can visit the nearby Romanesque church, architectural heritage of five periods of construction (1st - 19th century).The Viuz Faverges Archeological Museum consists of three rooms filled with artifacts found locally during tests and formal excavations. These objects, ranging from the commonplace to the extraordinary, illustrate the history of human settlement in the area. From the stone Age, axes and tools; from the bronze and iron Ages, jewelry, coins, pottery, tools as well as a huge gallo-roman cauldron. The museum is located next to the Viuz Saint Jean-Baptiste church, whose Romanesque choir dates back to the 12th Century and houses older foundations of several successive buildings dating back to gallo-roman times as well as early christianity.
