Walk along this trail through rolling countryside and discover the areas marked by the famous battle of 6 August 1870. The route takes you through the successive villages of Gundershoffen, Froeschwiller and Reichshoffen. Start at Gundershoffen railway station and follow the signs to Elsasshausen near Froeschwiller. You will enjoy unobstructed views from the battlefield. Near the circuit, you can climb up to the belvedere built in 1913 to enjoy the full panorama. Continue on your way to the next village of Froeschwiller, passing in front of the Church of Peace, built from Vosges sandstone. Then continue towards the forest and the Reichshoffen lake (a remarkable natural site classified as a Voluntary Nature Reserve for its wildlife). Continue towards the town of Reichshoffen, birthplace of the Dietrich dynasty, to return to the starting point.
