Description

Surprising walk where you will discover clay pitons shaped by erosion offering a show of forms and colors where a particular fauna and a flora settled. Not recommended the day after the rain because the ground is slippery.

The Fosses de Fournès form a lunar landscape with very strong geological features. It's a special place for the flora and fauna that live there. Kermes oaks, wild lavender and rosemary blend into the clay landscape.
The former clay quarry stretches along a gentle gradient that keeps you going up and down. The slopes are designed to make your walk easier. There's something fascinating about the landscape, which will take you on a journey from the Moon to the Gardon, via the vineyards.

Not recommended after rain, as the terrain is very slippery.

From the Grand Rue parking lot in Fournès village, turn left towards the Mairie.
Walk along the stadium, then past the cemetery.

Follow the route de théziers, then turn left at the Parefeuille factory.
Follow the road for 1km, then turn left towards Les Fosses de Fournès.

Along the way, you'll come across pitons between ten and thirty meters high, the highest of which is called "La Mourre de Pitaraçon".

Then continue towards Fournès via Les Escarpettes.

Turn left towards Fontaine de Nocquet, then left again to reach the village.

You will pass the Cave Coopérative to reach the Grand Rue parking lot.
