Stone interpretation trail

Starting from the village of Vers Pont du Gard, the interpretation trail presents the history of stone from the construction of the Pont du Gard to its use today.

Maison de la pierre parking lot.
Directions for starting out on the path of yesterday's stone to join the path of today's stone.
Follow the signs down to the village center of Vers Pont du Gard. (cross the road to walk safely on the sidewalk).
The first information panels are located on the wash-house square.

Take Rue de la Madone and go straight on to Rue de la Poste.
At the "la poste" sign, turn right into Rue des Escanaux.
At the crossroads, take the left-hand street that leads up to "le chemin des carrières" (the nursery school is on your right).

Continue straight on, following the signs for La Coste and Le Roc Plan.

As you leave the undergrowth, cross the road and continue straight ahead to reach the Mariargues hiking sign.

Then turn right for 800 m to reach the Observatoires de Carrières sign. Here you'll have several views of the quarry, which is still in operation.

Return to the village and, at the end of the road, turn left to go up to the Maison de la Pierre.
