Depending on weather conditions, certain itineraries are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or are not practicable, or even forbidden, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, so stay on the marked trails. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing wildlife. Pick up your garbage.
Animals are not allowed on some routes.
1/ From the wetland parking lot, turn left onto the road leading up to Chantegrelle, then left again onto a carriageway. At the road, turn right for 250 m, then left on a downhill track. At the crossroads, turn right and keep to this main path down to the "La Gérize" stream.
2/ Just before the stream, fork right and climb a steep track to reach the charming hamlet of La Sauvedie. Drive through the small village of La Sauvedie. Just outside the village, turn left onto a forest track. Keep to the left of a house and follow this track into the Rucheix forest.
3/ Leave the first track on your right and take the second 250 m further on. Follow this path upwards until you reach the forest track and continue to the right. At the crossroads, fork right onto the downhill track. At the crow's-foot, turn left and follow the adobe farmhouse. This path leads to the village of Fougère.
4/ Turn left onto a tarmac road, then right just before the hamlet of Le Bouchet. Pass between the houses and continue to the right, where the road becomes a path. When you reach the road, cross over to take the small road opposite (view of Pierre-sur-Haute). At the crossroads, keep right, then at the next bend go straight ahead on a downhill track. This comes out onto the road a few metres before the cemetery. Descend to the right, then to the left, to cross the wetland and return to the starting point.
