Description

Starting from the old customs of Urdos, this trail unveils a wild valley traversed by a beautiful and physically demanding route. Here, shepherds and sheep occupy these extensive pastures. The ascent to the refuge at 1724 meters marks the highlight of this beautiful hike with an impressive panorama.

Departure

From Oloron Sainte-Marie, head towards Saragosse, cross the Aspe Valley, and reach the village of Urdos. Park at the parking lot located just outside the village on the left, near the old customs. Start heading east along the watercourse, cross a small bridge, and continue steeply ascending through the forest on the Saüquet path.

Ruisseau de Yerre

At the junction with a small track, turn right and continue on a relatively wide trail, on the mountainside. Cross a small stream and keep progressing until you reach the Ruisseau de Yerre.

Final ascent

Begin the final ascent. From the trail junction, cross the Ruisseau de Yerre and continue climbing. The slope becomes steeper, alternating between open sections and sections covered with vegetation. The last part of the ascent is done in open terrain, near the Ruisseau de Larry.

Return

Cross the Ruisseau de Larry via the bridge, continue about fifty meters west, then turn left to ascend the final stretch and reach the refuge. Return by the same path to return to the starting point.
