Here's a mountain bike tour for you, high-performance riders, tailor-made for your climbing and downhill skills. The village of Chéraute, right next to Mauléon, hosts the starting point and the entire loop, divided between the panoramic hill of Kokoitxe, the hamlet of Hoquy and its Lausset valley, or the emblematic summit of Gaztelaia. No time for bucolic wandering, but a concentration of sustained climbs and descents where mobility on the bike and flexibility will be important allies to enjoy the ride. The mountain of Gaztelaia is well worth a break to enjoy its beautiful panorama and the remains of its fortress, followed by a memorable descent to Hoquy, with some fine forest passages and a playful terminal gully. However, it's best to choose a fairly dry period.
