The first Auvelais Cavalcade was organized in 1892, at the initiative of the Mayor of the time, Félix Protin. The latter wanted to organize a large charity procession for the Easter holidays. This procession was called "Cavalcade" because it was preceded by the mounted gendarmerie and embellished with carriages and floats. Since then, the Cavalcade has been held every year around Easter. A procession composed of giants (Jean le Porion, Marie d'el Potée and Maxence), musicians, majorettes, clowns and local Gilles from Sambreville parades through the streets, under confetti and streamers.Source : sites.google.com/site/laconfreriedelauveloise/la-cite-du-porion/la-cavalcade
