Bizanos - Les hauteurs de Franqueville

Leaving the car park, take the stairs on the right. Cross the access road to the castle and continue on the stairs opposite. Climb the wide path on the left to the castle esplanade [view of the vineyards and hillsides]. For pushchairs, it is possible to take the asphalted road on the left when leaving the car park after the first stairs.

Go left in front of the castle entrance and turn right on the access road, along a pebble wall. At the intersection, leave the gate on the left and continue straight. The path, at first in the undergrowth, crosses a meadow. At the fork (bench), stay in the left lane. 50m to the left is a belvedere, with a beautiful view. Return to the path. Continue to the disused gas exploitation site.

Turn right along the fence. Leave the wide path going to the right and continue straight uphill to the corner of the fence. Take the path in the undergrowth on the right. Admire the view of the hillsides and the Pyrenees between the trees. At the end of this path, arrive in a small clearing.

Take right onto the trail marked with gas line signs. Descend to a track. After the stream, turn left, then turn right on the first path that goes up the hill. Ignore the stairs on the left and right and continue on the same path to reach the castle. Go to the left of the castle and go down to the car park taking the same path.
