Garlin : la randonnée des Pacheras

This noble house, built in the 17th and 18th centuries, belonged to the Hiton family from 1744 to 1772, then to the Pergade family until 1827. It features Louis XIV wood panelling, a fireplace and an indoor fountain. Purchased by the municipality around 1950, it is now the headquarters of Garlin Town Hall on the edge of the municipal park (with remarkable trees and the remains of a pillar from the old fortified town).

Church 3rd quarter 19th c. 31 stained glass windows signed Bergès (1863). Copy of The Holy Family, known as the Virgin of Seville, by Murillo, signed Dartiguenave (1839). Monumental paintings by Augier and Millet (1903). Construction was decided upon in 1856 and the major work was completed in 1863. The spire is distinctive for its stone construction. The stained glass windows by Toulouse master glassmaker Amédée Bergès date from 1863. Ornamentation by Louis Augier (painter) and Millet (painter and decorator) from 1903 in the form of monumental murals.

Permanent exhibition of over 2,500 machines, agricultural and craft tools, objects and domestic utensils from the South-West, corresponding to 25 different trades, covering the period from the 17th to the 20th centuries.

Garlin is one of the few traditional bullfighting centres in Béarn. Arenas built near Les Embarrats to replace the old arenas on Place de la Liberté (1811–1875) and then those on Place du Marcadieu (1875–1937). Boulevard des Remparts follows the route of the old moats (palisades) that surrounded the town and appear on the 1682 land register.

Lake Gabassot covers an area of 40 hectares. It has a very large population of pikeperch and perch. It is also home to numerous carp. Boat fishing is permitted (boat agreement), as is night fishing for carp. However, fishing from the dyke is prohibited. The upper part of the lake is a reserve.
