The hamlet of Tongrenelle once boasted a fortress of the earldom of Namur, first mentioned in 1209. The castle fell into ruins and was completely demolished in 1860. Today only the manor farm that preceded the castle still survives. The buildings date from the 17th and 18th centuries. The moats fed by the Ligne lend a certain charm to the site.
The fortified farm of Balâtre dominates the valley of the Grand-Vaux, a tributary of the Ligne. This imposing fortified complex built of limestone rubble was developed as a quadrilateral from a medieval donjon. The huge barn dates from the 17th century. A square tower overlooks the pretty village square.
Perched on a rocky spur, Mielmont castle overlooks the Orneau river. Mielmont was originally a fortress of the earldom of Namur. The donjon dates from the 12th century.
The fortified farm of Falnuée (17th-19th centuries) lies at the confluence of the Orneau and the Ligne rivers. The donjon dates from the 13th century. The buildings were listed in 1976. The fortified farm of Falnuée has become a golf club and attracts sportsmen and –women from all over Belgium. The Golf de Falnuée three-star hotel and restaurant offers accommodation with or without golf.
