Welcome to‘Hotel Taxandria’!
Hotel Taxandria is the museum’s set up where each room is ‘inhabited’ by a historical figure. You can meet, for instance, Wiske Hendrik van He(e)rtum, Turnhout’s last deer, or the impressive Maria van Zimmeren, lady of Turnhout.
Get to know all hotel guests and let them tell you about the history of the development and traditions of Turnhout and the Antwerp Campine. Why, for instance, was Turnhout never walled in and which impact did this have on the city? You can also discover archaeological treasures, beautiful lacework and numerous works of art.
From the summer holiday on, each of the finished rooms will be opened up.
And a hotel wouldn’t be a hotel if no other well-known or lesser-known guests temporarily take up residence in the following years !
Summer in the museum
