Mergieux little walk, walk n°7
Description
Tour approachable for everybody around the hamlet of Mergieux. However some parts have a difference in height quite important. This tour do not start from Najac, it is accessible by car or from the tours n°6 and n°8.
The main part of this tour is in the forest. Some conifers were planted for the forestry development but the broad-leaved trees constituted the forest cover until the early 20th century. The forests around Mergieux holiday village are use by the ONF (Forestry Commission).

Steps
START FROM THE MULTISPORT GROUND
You can park your car next to the multisport ground. Then walk to the holiday village for 300 meters, cross it and continue as far as the beginning of the wide path.
PART 1
Turn right on this path going to the river, you are on the GR36 (hiking trail). At the beginning you will pass 2 crossroads in Y, turn left for both of them. Go down to the river and pass under the bridge. The path goes along the river for 1,5 kms with nice part into box tree tunnels.
PART 2
Once at the stream called Baussanière turn right, just before the bridge. The path goes up very steep to Baussanière (150 meters of difference in height!). At the locality Baussanière you can watch a beautiful view of the confluence between the river Aveyron and the river Sereine just as Mergieux Holiday Village. If you are tired you can shortcut going on the road for 500 meters and then the first path on your right. Otherwise fallow the signs, the path disappear into the forest. Continue as far as the wide path.
PART 3
Turn right on the path going down with a lot of bends as far as the stream of Loubezac. Cross this stream and continue on the steep path. You are 500 meters from the finish line !
END OF THE TOUR
Back at the starting point, just next to the Holiday Village of Mergieux (built in 1975).
